
The connecting rod is the part that joins the piston to the crankshaft. The connecting rod must be light in weight and, at the same time, high in strength as well as hardness. To meet these requirements, this part is generally made of steel which makes it possible for the connecting rod to absorb the high impacts (applied to the piston) produced as a result of combustion during the power stroke while transferring the resulting movement to the crankshaft.
